Beginner Woodworking Projects

One of the most common questions that I receive are from people who are just starting with woodworking and are looking for beginner woodworking projects.  After all, as a beginner you want to make sure that the project you take on isn’t too complicated and something that you can learn from.

I think of all beginner woodworking projects the one that is most often tackled is the birdhouse!  This is a small enough project but there are so many different variations and styles that you can choose from.  It’s a terrific project to start with.

Other Beginner Woodworking Projects

Some other classic beginner woodworking projects come to mind.  You’ll see a trend that there are all relatively small projects and they all give you a great learning experience.

 .

1) Wood Bench

This is one of the beginner woodworking projects that I most recommend, simply because it’s relatively simple but it’s still something that a little mistake ruin the project.  Cuts must be done with accuracy otherwise it’s easy for the bench to come out unlevel.

2) Jewelry Box

This is a small project that doesn’t require too much time.  Again, there are many different designs you can choose from that will range in difficulty.

3) Shelving Unit (bookcase)

Of the beginner woodworking projects lists on this page, this is most likely the most advanced, but it’s one that doesn’t require all that many pieces.  The other thing I like about building a bookcase is that it’s almost always something that you can actually use and be proud of!.
